A Portrait of Pepper

They say if you love a dog, you will also lose a dog, because a dog’s life is much shorter than that of human and so you will outlive your dog. Nevertheless a dog is still the best friend to be had.

Kah Lai contacted us to book an urgent photography session for her family, which included her two pet dogs, Jiro and the ailing Pepper. Pepper had been with the family since Kah Lai was young. She was very weak and going through the last days of her life, so Kah Lai wanted to have some photos of Pepper for keepsake. The bond that Kah Lai and her family shared with Pepper was very much evident during the photography session. I’m glad to have taken this assignment that meant a great deal for Kah Lai.

Pepper passed away without much suffering five days later. But Kah Lai’s love for Pepper stays on in her, and in these photos.

Kah Lai, this is for you….

Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
